computer memory check
how do i check my computer memory.?

my computer keeps locking up. i think its the memory

When you say “locking up”, do you mean that everything freezes completely (no mouse, clock stops, etc)? Or do you mean that your PC just runs really sluggishly? Do these “lock ups” clear on their own, or do you have to reboot your PC?

If your machine just freezes, then it likely isn’t your memory. If it gets sluggish, then perhaps something is running that’s got a memory leak (damaged executable and DLLs can do this). AVG AntiVirus and Windows Media Player have been known to slowly chew up memory, just to name a few.

There are lots of problems that can manifest in this way. Try to provide additional details of the “lock up” (total freeze or just sluggishness) and what you might have been doing before the “lock up” occurred. How often does this happen? How long does your machine run before it “locks up”?

See if you can answer those questions and we might be able to give you better assistance :)
