my pc upgrades, how does it look?
Hi.
i am into A LOT of video/image editing and a little gaming.
I decided to upgrade my current pc, so it puts out more horsepower
Please tell me if these upgrades are good, and match my system. I’ve researched quite a bit.
Current:
Intel Pentium D 820 2.80GHz (i’ve heard bad things about my current setup)
OS: Windows XP Media Center SP3 32 Bit
Motherboard: ASUSTek Computer INC 775 LGA Intel i945P Rev. A1
Graphics: ATI PCIE Radeon X1300/X1550 Series
Storage: 250 WD ATA harddrive
RAM: 3.5 GB
will be Upgraded to:
Intel Core 2 Duo 3.16GHz
OS: Windows XP Pro SP2 or Vista? 64 Bit (since i got the 8gb ram)
Motherboard:ASUS P5E64 WS EVOLUTION 775 LGA Intel X48 ATX Intel
Graphics:should i upgrade to something like 8800 Ultra?
Storage: 2 WD 500 GB harddrives + 1 15,000 rpm hp drive just for big software (adobe,3dmax etc)
RAM: 8.0 GB
How does this look? did i miss anything?
Even though people may think random crap. ASUS for your motherboard wouldnt be the BEST option, maybe try some other brands. The ultra is a bit noisy, so even trying 2 8800 Gtx’s in SLI would be ownage. You’ve got plenty of RAM to go for vista, and if youve seen some of the directx10 pics then it may sway you to go for it. Your hp drive is extremely fast, and its a good idea to go with a dual core. So mainly, its a pretty dang good system. Not sure if you’d need that much RAM though, lol. but good indeed.
